Scholarship description

The Washington State Cheer Coaches Association is offering multiple scholarship awards to support cheer athletes in Washington State as they pursue their educational goals. Applicants must be current students in Washington State, and their coach must be a member of the Washington State Cheer Coaches Association. Please refer to the WSCCA website for official rules and eligibility requirements.

Cheerleading is more than just a sport; it’s an opportunity to grow, learn, and develop essential life skills that shape who you are today. In an essay of 500–750 words, reflect on the valuable lessons you’ve learned from your experience as a cheerleader. Consider addressing the following:

  • How has cheerleading taught you the importance of teamwork and collaboration?

  • What challenges have you faced in cheerleading, and how did you overcome them?

  • In what ways has cheerleading improved your leadership abilities, time management, or communication skills?

  • How have the skills and values gained through cheerleading prepared you for future academic, personal, or professional success?

  • Feel free to incorporate specific stories or examples that highlight your growth and achievements. Be authentic and passionate, showing how cheerleading has shaped your character and aspirations.

We are looking to see who you are as a cheerleader, community member, and leader. Most importantly, have fun and be yourself, there is only one YOU!

What are your post graduation plans? How will this scholarship assist in accomplishing these goals?

If applicable, describe any additional leadership roles you have held outside of the cheer team.

  1. Name of College: You should include the official name of your institution—make sure it matches what's listed on your enrollment documents.

  2. Proof of Enrollment: Typically, this can be obtained from your college registrar’s office or student portal. It might include a letter of enrollment or a copy of your class schedule or tuition payment receipt. You may also submit a letter of acceptance if you have not begun the enrollment process yet.

  3. Address of Financial Aid Office: Check your college website for the mailing address of the financial aid office. It’s usually listed under their "Contact Us" section.

Important: You may submit your application with your current college selection. If you are awarded the scholarship and later choose a different college, please ensure that your final selection is provided to us by July 1st.

All students who are at least 16 years old and are permanent legal residents of the United States (only Washington) are eligible. Void where prohibited by law. No purchase necessary to enter or win.
